“Grief is the midwife of your capacity to be immensely grateful for being born.” - Stephen Jenkinson

Grief is meant to be shared in community. And yet we have so few opportunities or spaces to do so.

The Day of Grief and Gratitude is for people on Gabriola to acknowledge - and feel - the losses and sorrows of the past 18 months and beyond.

+ tragic accidents, and the deaths of beloved community members.

+ isolation, separation from each other through imposed restrictions.

+ ongoing cutting of our forests, climate catastrophe, and dispossession of Indigenous Peoples.

And yet in the midst of it, we can find healing, solidarity, and gratitude for living in these times.

Please join us, and stand together in grief and gratitude.

About the Day of Grief and Gratitude Collaboration

This event came together in true Gabriola fashion, when a group of community-loving individuals and organizations met to consider ways to address the "grief gap" in our community.

The Haven, with the assistance of an Act Local, Think Global grant from the Holistic Centres Network, has provided financial, venue, and logistical support to this collaboration, which includes:

Intergenerational Land Based Learning for Reconciliation on Gabriola (SFU)
